Stuck, or something broke?
Email info@qltech.co.za and say which phone you have and which game you were playing. If a clip did not save or share, the end card's "Delete clip" and a fresh run are the quickest fix; nothing you record is stored anywhere but on your phone.
Playing
Which phones does it work on?
iPhone 11 or newer with iOS 17 or later, and Android phones with Android 10 or later. It needs the front camera.
The face check will not finish
Hold the phone at arm's length in a well-lit room, face the camera straight on, keep your eyes open, and hold still for a second. When it asks you to open wide, open as wide as you can and hold it until the ring fills. "Play anyway" skips the check and uses default settings.
It does not react to my blinks or tilts
Keep the phone still with one hand and move your head, not the phone. Tilting the phone along with your head cancels the movement out.
Can I play without the camera?
Every control has a touch fallback: tap to jump, swipe to change lane, swipe down to slide.
Does it work with glasses, or in dim light?
Glasses are fine. Light matters more: play facing a lamp or window rather than with one behind you, so the camera can see your eyes and mouth clearly. If blinks are missed with glasses on, turn a little so the lenses do not catch a bright reflection.
How do I play against a friend?
Two ways. On two phones in the same room: open Play together, one player hosts and shows a four-letter code, and the other types it in. The phones talk over the same Wi-Fi or one phone's hotspot, with no internet server in between. Or from anywhere: when you share a clip, the message carries a challenge link and code. Your friend opens the link, or taps "Enter a code" in Face-It, and plays the exact same run to beat your score.
Can kids play?
Face-It is for ages 13 and up. Younger children can play with a parent or guardian present, who reads the first screen and agrees for them. Ads are set up as child-directed and non-personalised for every player, whatever their age.
Your clips and your privacy
Where are my clips?
On the home screen under "Your clips". The app keeps the newest ten plus your best run per game; save a clip to Photos to keep it for good.
Where does my clip go? Can you see my recordings?
Your clip stays on your phone, and we never see it. Face-It has no server and no account, so there is nowhere for a recording to be uploaded to. Clips are kept in the app's own storage on your phone and left out of cloud backups. A clip leaves your phone only when you tap Share or Save yourself.
What happens when I share a clip?
Your phone's share sheet opens and you pick where the clip goes: a chat, a social app, or Photos. The clip goes straight from your phone to that app, never through us. After that, the app you shared to looks after it under its own rules.
Why does my phone ask to record the screen?
The clip is a recording of the game screen, so iPhone and Android ask whether Face-It may record it before a run. That recording is saved on your phone, the same as a screen recording you make yourself. Say no and you can still play; there just will not be a clip to watch or share.
Does the app store or send pictures of my face?
No. The game reads your face on your phone, frame by frame: whether you blink, open your mouth or tilt your head. Each reading is thrown away straight after. Face-It does not keep face measurements, does not build a face template, does not identify you and sends nothing about your face anywhere. The only picture of you is the clip, which stays on your phone.
Do the ads see my camera?
No. The ad service never gets the camera, your face, your clips or anything the game reads from your face. There is only one kind of ad, and you choose it: after a good run you can watch a short video to keep going. No banners, nothing that interrupts play, and ads are never personalised.
Buying
Is it free? What do I get if I pay?
Jaw Jumper, Flap Face and Stare Down are free, with no limits. Each of the other games gives you one free run a day. Unlock one for good with a one-time purchase (US$0.99), or every game at once, including later ones (US$4.99). Prices vary by country. No subscription. Buying anything also means you keep going after a run for free and never see an ad.
I bought a game. How do I get it back on a new phone?
Sign in with the same Apple ID or Google account you bought it with, open Settings in Face-It and tap Restore purchases. Apple or Google tells the app what you own; there is no Face-It account to sign in to.
